 Frequently Asked Questions

Q1

What amperage should I cut at with my quarry saw/narrow saw?

For a narrow saw, we aim for amperage between 60 and 70 amps. For a quarry saw, usually anywhere between 50 and 75 amps. This is assuming the saws are wired at 480V. However, for 240V saws, you should double the numbers. The general rule of thumb is to increase amperage until you are no longer seeing increased cut speeds. If you turn up the amps and the cut speed does not increase, turn the amps back down to the previous setting.

Q2

What should my water pressure and volume be for my quarry saw?

For a quarry saw, you’ll want to keep the water pressure at 25-50 gallons per minute at 30+ PSI for best results.

Q3

My “X” sensor doesn’t work on my quarry saw—is it safe to run the saw?

Technically, it is safe to run a quarry saw with one of the sensors not working. There are many sensors on these products—two travel sensors, a water pressure sensor, and a belt speed sensor. You have to run the quarry saw on bypass mode if a sensor isn’t working. However, we recommend fixing the issue and running it with all the sensors working. When a sensor is not working, there’s a risk of damaging the saw, the bar, or the belt. It needs to be fixed as soon as possible to avoid further issues.

Q4

Can your tools cut all types of stone?

There is a range, but at this point our tooling works best with limestone and some marbles.

Q5

Are WFM belts, wear strips, and bars compatible with other manufacturers’ components?

  • The bar has two water hookups on each side and is compatible with most machines.

  • The belts are compatible with any bar, and many wear strips.

  • The wear strip is universal. It will run with any bar or any belt.

Q6

Do you make custom tools, segments, etc?

  • All segments are made custom for our belts based on what you’re cutting.

  • PCD tools are also available as custom items, depending on tool design and quantity.

Q7

How much does a WF Meyers Quarry Saw weigh?

  • The machine weighs 8,000 lbs without a bar on it

Q8

Do you sell carbide for my planer tools?

  • Yes, we keep two sizes of carbide in stock and custom sizes are available for order.
